MPulse has been on the U-M campus since 2006.
It currently runs 14 Institutes and provides
instruction to over 300 high school students
annually. MPulse is one of the programs overseen
by the Office of Engagement & Outreach at the
University of Michigan's School of Music,
Theatre & Dance.
One student in particular received a Music Education Degree from U-M SMTD,
became a teacher in Michigan, and helped their own high school students attend
MPulse. The reach of the Watson A. Young Scholarship administered by the Center
for Educational Outreach extends far beyond the support of a single individual.
IN THEIR OWN WORDS
"MPulse summer intensive was the best part of my summer because the teachers
pushed me outside of my boundaries, and I made some amazing friends. Thank
you again for the gift you gave me." —Taylor, 2015 MPulse Student
"Dear Watson A. Young Scholarship Committee, I would like to express my
gratitude for your gift of a scholarship for a summer program. MPulse is a huge
opportunity that would not have been possible without your support. I think
MPulse has helped shape my goals for my career and education. Thank you for
providing me with this opportunity and this experience." —Yule, 2016 MPulse
