K-12 PROGRAMS AT OCCE
Michigan Engineering’s Office of Culture, Community and Equity (OCCE) provides a wide range
of K-12 opportunities for students to engage in various STEM areas. Through Engineering
OnRamp (EO), OCCE offers programs for middle and high schoolers from underserved and
underrepresented communities to foster educational opportunities in engineering. Through
EOs engaging programs, participants delve into engineering fields and benefit from a
comprehensive curriculum that emphasizes STEM education, personal growth and readiness
for higher education. With the integration of the MEZ & MI-LSAMP into EO, OCCE continues to
strengthen its portfolio of educational opportunities to excite students about engineering and
prepare them for future careers in STEM.
CEDO Established
The Center for Engineering Diversity and Outreach (CEDO) is created by merging the Office of Engineering Outreach and
Engagement, the Women in Engineering Office and the Multicultural Engineering Program Office (MEPO). This multifaceted
merger facilitated collaborations, identified synergies and created a better alignment of resources to increase
representation in engineering.

From Outreach to Pathways
CEDO shifts focus to increasing the number of students from underserved and underrepresented
communities enrolled at Michigan Engineering, as well as providing year-long programming. EO is
launched, focusing on integration into College efforts, partnerships with schools, school districts and
community-based organizations, financial support and multiple cohort-based offerings.
