DELIVERING DIRECT SERVICE TO SCHOOLS, STUDENTS AND FAMILIES
CEO's commitment to diversifying the undergraduate student population across the state has profoundly impacted
Michigan's K-12 communities, fostering a strong college-going culture. Through impactful programs and outreach
initiatives, CEO inspired countless students on their journey to higher education.
The Michigan College Advising Corps (MCAC) has been at the forefront, having recent U-M graduates serve as advisers
in underresourced high schools. From its initial efforts, MCAC has expanded its reach to 17 schools, including those in
Southwest Detroit and Southfield. This program continues to expand in response to statewide needs.
In 2019, CEO's efforts were bolstered by state funding, enabling the launch of College Day, which brought leadership
events and on-site programming to 15 schools and 972 students. In 2020, this initiative evolved into the GEAR UP
federal program, serving over 890 students across eight middle schools and four high schools by 2022.
CEO’s Campus Visits program grew exponentially. What began with 20 visits and 400 students in 2018 has now
blossomed into 60+ visits and 2,500+ students annually.
The Watson A. Young Scholarship provided financial support for 60+ students to participate in 40 U-M summer
programs.
The Wolverine Express program impacted more than 12,000 students across 28 schools thanks to the dedication of 350
faculty and staff volunteers.
