WHAT IS CEO?
The Center for Educational Outreach (CEO) is the University of Michigan’s dynamic and influential hub for all K-12
outreach work. CEO spearheads a cohesive, university-wide endeavor to enhance the scope and impact of outreach
initiatives through campus and statewide public engagement. By connecting across U-M schools, colleges, faculty, staff
units, and student organizations, CEO creates a collaborative environment, driving U-M’s educational outreach mission
forward with passion and purpose.
CEO is committed to providing comprehensive services through vibrant communities of practice and consulting
services designed to address critical outreach needs and connect faculty, staff, and community partners to essential
resources. The expertise spans from idea conception to implementation, application design, student data strategy,
program scholarships, and social justice-themed campus visits.
CEO’s impact extends beyond the university through bringing K-12 students to campus, as well as the university to their
classrooms. Additionally, CEO uses federally-funded initiatives to place recent U-M graduates as full-time college
advisers in high schools throughout the state, and promote a college-going culture through GEAR UP programming in
Detroit, Southfield, and River Rouge. United in the mission for educational opportunity, CEO’s work within schools and
other universities helps create a more inclusive and engaged campus and a more educated and equitable state.
